2018 Subaru Forester 2.5L
~40k miles
Salvage title, rear end damage

This is a car I'm considering purchasing, but I know it was in a rear end collision. Everything currently works and drives great as far as I can tell, but I looked up the VIN and found pics of the accident that look pretty bad, but I'm no expert.

Would love to know if this damage looks like it impacted the frame of the car, or if it impacts the future safety of the vehicle. I want to install a lift on the car and, of course, make sure it's safe.

Note: I will definitely get a pre-inspection done, this is sort of a pre-pre-inspection so I don't waste money on an inspection if someone knowledgeable can tell me from photos to run away from the car now.

Posting URL for the images here since the image system isn't working: https://autoauctionspot.com/...2SJAGC6JH528092.html

Thank you for your help!

This is unibody construction so the whole car is frame and you can guarantee it has severe damage.

The fact that it has a salvage title makes is nearly worthless to resell.

In most states you cannot register a salvage title. They are sold as "parts only"

I see no benefit to getting involved in this car at all.

Just to add: At least it shows it was a fixed mess with now NO WARRANTY so price is lower always matters, buyer or seller.

No frame almost nothing out there has a frame. Just that you said that means you don't know is fine, between the lines means you don't know about these type cars. Trouble is (this is NOT my exact trade) is it can be straightened so body parts fit again.

Just doing that is cracking up paint on unseen areas an metal would probably (?) make it rust there quickly so it's still salvage.

AYOR no telling now if a bargain or a nightmare the latter more likely,

Tom
