My Car buying Tips, Share your knowledge!
1. Check the Engine for Oil Leaks
2. Check the Dip Stick, if there’s Smoke coming out
3. Check the Oil from the dip stick, and check the color, consistency. Watch out for Crystal aluminum formation.
4. Have someone Rev the engine while you check the smoke coming out from the exhaust (dark colored smoke = Bad engine) Please clarify
5. Drive the car for at least 40/kHz in speed, release the steering wheel, observe if the car drags itself to the right or left. This means something is wrong
6. While freewheeling at 40kph try to floor the breaks, observe if the car still drags you to the right or left, this means something is also wrong with your breaks
8. Check mileage
9. While test driving, turn off stereo to hear unnecessary noises
10. Check car history at tm
11. Was it registered?
12. Check specs on the or / cry if it matches with the car itself
13. If possible have the under chassis checked by using a lifter. See if there are badly corroded parts.
14. Look under the carpet if the flooring is still fresh.
15. Check gauges, signal/head lights, wiper switch and other electrical stuff if it still works.
16. Check plate number
18. Check the tires if it is still new.
19. Drive or do some tight turns to check the velocity bearing.
20. Use the zircon to check if the rpm meter goes up and down, could be servo issue.
21. Check maintenance in your budget...
22. Check auto body dents
23. check interior moldings, carpet and ceiling if it is still intact.
24. check for leaks. If possible, bring it to a car wash and have it sprayed with water.
25. consider aftermarket/performance/aesthetics installed on the car. these things greatly affect the value of the car.
26. visual check on steering wheel and shift knob27. Check firmness of seats, this may also indicate how long or how much the car was used
