BOLT STUCK IN MY CAR HOW DO I GET IT OUT?? Sign In

Hi everyone,

I have a fiat punto 2002 5 door. Recently, whilst changing the doors I was trying to put a screw into one of the bolts on the hinges, but it fell out of my hand and fell through this little tiny gap in the side of the my actual car which would be directly under the door(nothing to do with the door). So imagine the skirting of my car... there's a little bolt rattling around and swaying side to side when I turn corners, or someone is in the back etc. .. I asked someone about this and he said he can't be the bolt as it can't roll to the back of the car along the inside of the skirting but somehow I think he's talking nonsense.

Any help on this would be great. Resolutions are welcome :) thanks

This car not sold to the US where most of us are but doesn't really matter.

Hey - a bolted on hinge for a door and you dropped one of the bolts - right? Fine - so what's holding that door on now - either just one or two not dropped or another bolt?

Stuff happens like that in assorted anything. They make magnetic pick up tools or ones that grab that you push and small wire like tines come out and expand to grab and tighten on object when you let go with item in its grasp. Check for stuff at a larger parts outlet/store for retrieving lost things like this.

Sometimes an item goes way too out of reach to be worth fetching (all depends on what and where) and harmless to leave it and use another or you might have a real project to go get it. If lost bolt fell there you should be able to get it out if making a noise rattling if the loos bolt or the item now no longer attached - you did it, use your head on how to fix this.

BTW - vehicle door hinges are a problem on many and require some special tools to mess with at all up to removing a hinge pin first before touching bolts like a common hinge used in buildings and homes,
