Astra crash chances of it being a write off Sign In

Had a bit of a prang last week and was wondering if anyone could offer an opinion as to whether it may be a write off

The car is an astra design 1.8 auto 57 plate with around 35k miles

Is a picture of it.

Thanks

John

Just wanna know whether to start shopping around

Bit of a prang? Looks like the front end got ran over by a semi. Adjuster has to check it out and then the insurance company decides if it is totalled or not. Atleast that is how it works here in the states.

The suspension is ripped off, the roof has to be removed. I doubt that one is going to be repaired.

Same - That car in one picture shows enough damage that costs to repair would exceed its replacement value. There could be all kinds of unseen damage as costly as just the body and suspension damage that is apparent. If insured let them do their thing and start looking for a replacement. Even if it came close to fix vs the value of the car I wouldn't want that car again,

Those are my thoughts on that car.....If the insurance company told me they WERE going to fix it....I'd fight em.....I wouldn't want that car back with all that damage....It'll never be right again

Thanks to everyone for replying!

Insurance engineer phoned last night, confirmed it was a write off and after a little bit of a debate we agreed on a price. Money should be in my account by Wednesday impressed with that only have taken 10 days since accident.

Interestingly he said if it was just the roof and bodywork damage they would have wanted to fix it.

And that would have likely left you with a permanent leaking windshield.

And a neverending irritating wind noise at higher speeds...... Glad to hear things work out ok for you and no one was seriously hurt...

Yeah I'm fine apart from some bruises, which were made worse by wearing my work I'd badge and fob around my neck so learnt a lesson there to.

Now just waiting for the bill for the road sign.

Just glad I had protected no claims as well
