2014 Ford Transit Connect Rear Passenger Door & Child Lock Help! Sign In

Thanks in advance for any input. Greatly appreciated!

What a nightmare Uhgg. ;)

**2014 Ford Transit Connect Passanger XLT Sliding Rear Door Issues.**

I'll try not to be too long winded yet hopefully leaving enough details for suggestions.

* Initially rear driver side- sliding outside door latch- not working, inside latch did work for opening the door.
* Child safety lock on the same door was engaged while door was open accidentally, door will now not open either inside or outside. (Thanks Bro! LOL)

* We took off both inside sliding door panels to get a closer look. No remedy as of yet.
* We disengaged the child safety lock mechanism (Blue fiberglass/plastic type piece) on the passenger side, outside still works fine however inside will not open. We did this so the child safety lock would not engage accidentally again. We were only able to do this only because the door was already opened.
* The actuators all seem to relay and be working just fine.

***The child safety lock on these doors is located on the back of each sliding door which is currently locked on the rear drivers side. Does not seem to be a way to get to it easily. Any thoughts on how to open?

Any other input or advise? Thanks again!

It takes "long winded" to explain that if it happens is so far from ''SAFE ANYTHING'' that it happens it's nuts.
Another did that not this but the concept is/was just as lousy. Advantage was I had ability to look at another door test how it worked I think you do too here.
What happened is it was supposed to be UP or DOWN such that door would not open from inside when locked of course not outside but when manually moved to unlock still wouldn't open inside or outside.

That case (take one bad idea bet it's no different) the switch to choose was meant to be 100% one way or the other. If in the middle NOTHING WORKED!
That one could be bumped, brushed by a coat maybe and no way to get at it while closed like your scene.
Looking at another you can actuate latches without being closed fool it with a tool while open learn it and location if the same on other side helped a lot for me that time - a road call deal cooperative customer both of us needed to know what to do so it never happened again.
Some luck to get it open with like I'll say home made up "Slim-Jims" instead of down window glass to a latch went in between gap and jam to hook latch where that switch is.
Was able to move it off center where it did just what you are saying with window open in that one and I metal duct taped it so it couldn't move again then both sides was a car's rear doors but same idea.

Noticed later a whole line of these were in use was asking customers/friends with them to jam, tape or choose where to put them such that it wouldn't fail like that on them as it could as said not on purpose!
As far as I could see if it didn't move one hair either way that door would have to be cut open to deal with that up to total loss of the door! OMG what a fool idea that thing was.
See if that will work for you by looking at another make up your own thin metal strip you can twist with a slight bend at the end yet fit in that gap I think was aluminum strip metal thin and bendable lucked out that time without horrible damage in fact none!

Perhaps a body shop or road service club would have more info per exact vehicles and tools already to do this I can't know for each or your area save you some grief

Good luck and please post what worked you can't be the only one perhaps the web has some other trick by another or another person here the one I dealt with I was sure meant total destruction of that door if it failed!
