1989 Honda door will not open from outside

1989 Honda Accord 2dr automatic door will not open from the outside I would like to see if this is fixable by me or if I need to get a professional. When I attempt to lock the latch appears to be “stuck” and returns back to the unlocked position. I’m unable to lock/unlock the door from the outside the key doesn’t turn to lock once again it appears “stuck”.

Nobody is going to know until they take the door panel off and observe what is or isn't happening when the lock is activated from outside.
